Just got a new 50 inch lg. Pretty sweet, but I'm pulling my hair out trying to set up sound bar with optical cable...

Just got a new 50 inch lg. Pretty sweet, but I'm pulling my hair out trying to set up sound bar with optical cable...

If there's a menu setting for DigAud output, make sure it's turned on.

Check the end of the cable when it's coming out of the tv, make sure the red light is on in there. If it is, you're getting signal from the tv.

Plug it in, make sure you're on the right input for the sound bar, and you're done.

Also make sure that the red light is coming out of the cable where it plugs into the soundbar. It is always possible the cable is bad as well.
