Fuck the deer. Apparently, real men shoot bears.

Luckily We Didn't See Any Yesterday!

My wife's sister had a belated Thanksgiving meal for the clan Friday. She lives in the boonies north of Stroudsburg, and to get there you have to negotiate a twisting two lane road through about 15 miles of Billy Penn's Woods -- no lights anywhere, really pitch black.

Fortunately we made it there and back without seeing Bambi's cousins, but it was 35 miles per with my wife scanning the woods in front of us so she could sing out a warning!

Just get a deer whistle, KG.

You mount it on the front of your car, and it drives the deer away. But be careful not to mount it backwards, because that will attract the deer.

                    Thanks For The Reminder!

Now that you mention it, I used to have that on the front of my car when I lived upstate. I did a lot of driving in deer country going to cover football, basketball and wrestling and I felt better safe than sorry.

The woodlands long ago went bye-bye here in the Burbs, but there are still areas where Bambi's brethren may be lurking. That's not a bad idea, dude, and it sure could come in handy when we visit my sister-in-law!

                        I Could That, Too

One lives in Oklahoma, one in Bangor (PA) and the third one is the one out in the boondocks. Once a year they conspire and steal my wife away for a week -- Sisters' Week Out, a vacation someplace in the US. This year Cape Cod, next year Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

And I sit home with two cats -- GRRRRRR.
