Lets say Chip hadn't changed his mind and stayed at Oregon and the Eagles went with Bradley or someone else. Where does everyone think they'd be? Same record and position? Worse? Better?
I know most didn't expect them to be where they are and to me the defense has been the biggest surprise. I figured the offense would be better, but I didn't think the D would be as good as it is. In the preseason it didn't look like it could hold any team to under 30 points a game and was on pace to be as bad as Dallas and Chicago now are.
Offensively they're even better than I thought they'd be.
Look at some #s compared to last year:
