  • How does Riley Cooper get a pass?

His gawd awful drop killed them and he wasn't much of a factor otherwise even though he gets more targets than anyone on the team.
And DJax gets criticized? Can't blame him that Foles is in love with Cooper.

He doesn't. That's why they lost. *rim shot*

Not one column that I read gives him a pass. A lot of them said it might have been the most pivotal play in the game. If you go to Bleacher Report on the philly.com site, it gives the 5 plays that cost the Eagles the win. It's got a screen shot of all of them--he had NO ONE in front of him--in fact, if Jackson, gets the block in, we might have been looking at a 14-13 Philly lead at that point.

He doesn't get a pass, but, if not for Cooper stepping up when he did, earlier in the year, that game on Sat would have been between dallas and the aints.

you mean if he had kept playing as shitty as he was? probably true. easy upgrade though. foles throws to him too much. he barely caught 50 percent of his targets. jackson caught 2/3.

Well the drop was awful. Really awful. But i don't think its fair to say he did nothing. He was targeted 8 times caught 6 of them for 68 yards and a touchdown. He was the leading receiver on the field.

When Foles throws more to Cooper than Jackson, that's a problem. Obviously he's a bigger target but that doesn't make him the best target.

He caught barely over fifty percent for his career and he was barely over fifty percent this year. He's not a real #2 WR. The Eagles will be much better once they replace him.

Why replace him? He wasn't supposed to be a #2, got thrown into the role and did pretty damn well with it. Next season he can go back to his rightful spot on the depth chart.

Don't waste your time, he has it in for the guy.

Anyone with an impartial view recognizes that Cooper had an excellent year.

Jackson did well in Kelly's offense but you don't see Maniac watering down his stats as a result.

Cooper made a pile of key catches and blocked well ... and the fact that it was in Kelly's offense or as a favorite target of Foles doesn't mean he didn't have to make the motherfucking plays.

Cooper has the unfortunate status of not being a gamecock. For what it's worth.

Absolutely right. I don't like the guy and I hope they let him sign somewhere else. I also think he's easily replaced.

Strictly objectively here's the stats for the season:
                        Jackson 126 targets 82 catches 67 percent
Cooper 84 targets 47 catches 56 percent (Career 183/93 - virtually the same percentage)

Simply no question that Cooper's production benefited immensely from all the love he got from Foles. Foles completed 64 percent of his passes which suggests either he forced a lot of passes to Cooper or Cooper wasn't making the catches.

Always unfortunate not to be a Gamecock. Did you see Melvin Ingram's interception for the Chargers yesterday?

Fortunately for Reilly, he's Howie Roseman's Gator buttboy. Personal pick if I remember correctly. For what it's worth.

I've been on Jackson's jock since before his rookie year.

I called Cooper's drop the biggest bad play in a game full of them.

Fuck stats ... targets to catches isn't something that is exclusively a function of the receiver.

Cooper dropped a lay up Sunday, but dropping balls isn't his M.O.

Cooper has had an excellent year, and made as many catches in big spots as any player on the team.

If you want to judge receivers only on catch to target ratio, Riley Cooper is a better receiver than Torrey Smith.

Edit: and this year he was pretty much equal to Dez Bryant.

                              So what?
