It was tolerable due to the whiskey.

Never been, but I've been discussing moving there for the past two years. I've never been to the Pacific Northwest. But I'm assuming that Seattle's weather is similar to Germany's weather which should make the wifey happy.

I actually hate living in Los Angeles. If I was to move tomorrow, it would be to San Diego or Seattle.
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

        Same here

I wouldn't want to live in any city, regardless of tier status. We are seriously considering Hawaii as a retirement destination. Sick of the northeast winters

Interesting choice... Seattle vs. San Diego. Can't get that much different weather wise. I know I'd prefer SD weather wise but as I said earlier so much depends on the specifics of the situation. Which city is more expensive to live in?

They are very close in price. SD's median might be 15K more. It comes down to seasonal weather. I actually enjoy rain, having a winter would be nice. But year round 75 degrees is pretty nice too.

That's a good point. I probably would miss the winter if we didn't have one here and a little rain once in a while isn't so bad. I just don't want it every day.

Hmm, maybe I should check out returning to my Dad's roots in southern Delaware. And Espaņa always beckons...

That's what made the food tolerable.

Concur, SF is part of tier 1B

San Diego ain't much as far as a "city" goes. but its a great place to live if you like the outdoors
Mountains, desert, beaches all easily accessible and we just drive to "winter" for skiing etc and then head home after a few days.

Average high temp in January is only 15 degrees different than average high temp in July and that makes the outdoors accessible year-round.

I can see why the original Spaniard settlers were intrigued by California and wanted to settle there. You've got a similar situation with mountains, deserts, beaches all easily accessible in the south of Spain. Thing is nowadays Spain is probably a cheaper place to live compared to San Diego.
