  • How's this idea for extra points?

I think I can improve on McGoodell's latest tinkering with the rules!

    How about this?
Like McGoodell wants, after you score a touchdown, you get a free extra point. Then you have the choice of staying safe by keeping the free extra point or risking it by going for two.

If you risk it and make the two points, the coach gets the choice to continue by going DOUBLE OR NOTHING. This DOUBLE OR NOTHING extra points round continues until a coach decides to stop or loses everything, including the original free extra point.

This would add excitement to the game! A game would truly never be over until the last play was run because no matter how far a team was behind, if they scored a TD on the last play of the game they could go on in the DOUBLE OR NOTHING round until they had enough points to make up the deficit.

Imagine the tension this would bring to the game. Each game could have its own celebrity host for the DOUBLE OR NOTHING rounds.

Did Grandpa Eagle rant like this when they decided to install regular season overtime back in '74?

The Whammy would definitely bring a element of disincentive for going DOUBLE OR NOTHING with the lead.

I think they should just make the PAT a 40 yard field goal. This will probably cause more 2 point conversion attempts.

The Iggs will always have to go for 2 points with the Sir Short Foot kicking.
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

The should increase the value of PAT's and field goals based on distance.

Only change - each time you double down, the LOS also moves back 2 yards.

You know they are going flag style at some point...game scores will make Arena Ball look like offensive weaklings.

Eagles beat the Cowboys today 84 to 72. but only because the Dallas QB had a hangnail and had to leave in the 3rd quarter.

Another thing about the inclusion of the Whammy would be all the opportunities it would open up for Champ kind references.

I'm still trying to figure out the impact on imaginary football these proposed rule changes would have.

They need to start including some imaginary football rules too. Your team loses 2 points per interception or fumble. You get 1 point per 25 yards passing, 10 yards rushing, you get bonus points for longer field goals... etc. KG would become more interested if nothing else.

Maybe something like the NHL end of game fairy dance

                          A QB. A WR. A DB.

Two seconds to convert a pass for the extra point. Pass interference by either side is acceptable.

Perhaps the play could take place within a steel cage placed near the goal line.

In the double or nothing round, are all points accumulated to that point doubled? Or just the most recently awarded 2 pts??
