Vick doesn't feel he should have to compete for his next starting gig

sounds like he's a prime candidate for a low-ball special in cleveland.

Actually, I don't think he should need to compete. Everybody should know what he is at this point in his career, and he should be hired (or not) on the basis of what he provides to a team. Any team needing an interim starting quarterback should think about whether or not he could give them a meaningful start to their season, but at this point, everyone should know that you won't get a full season out of him.

Vick isn't talentless, but he isn't the final answer for a team looking for a starter. Hopefully, he gets the best deal he can at this point in his career.

Well, I'll love the shit out of his 2010 for the rest of my life but this is clearly some "what I really think" right here. He is gone. He is openly saying the QB competition is a bad idea when his coach swears by the concept. So, bye.

The moment Foles proved he was a starter Vick had no future here.

It's not like Vick is wrong or anything. The league knows what he is. A team that wants to sign him is going to sign him to be their quarterback, not a backup. There are a few QB needy teams. One of them is likely to take a chance on Vick.

              I enjoyed this quote:
In describing why he didn't want a QB competition he offered up this gem

"Every day was predicated on being the best I could be in training camp and winning the battle that day. "

Yeah, I can see how that would suck the life out of ya Mike.
He just wants to be anointed and move on to more important things

All that "being the best you can" shit is tiresome

              Don't you know who I am ? I'm Michael effing Vick !

That's a misinterpretation of what he meant. When you aren't fighting for the job, you can practice more experimentally. Try new things. Try to make throws that are more difficult, but have a higher chance of failing... in practice.

When competing, you're more likely to make the throws you know are safer and more likely to succeed. You get better by working on the things you don't do well. Exactly the sort of things that will cause you to lose the competition.

Next year, Foles is going to get better because of this same dynamic.

He WAS Michael Vick. Now he's an oft injured QB who can dazzle one drive and drive you insane the next.

He's 34 years old and if he ever plays 16 games in a season again I'll be shocked. He has never learned to avoid hits and the years of big hits he's taken has caught up to him. He did emerge as a great leader for us but his best days are way behind him.

That always was michael vick. He has always been injury prone and always made stupid throws then followed it up with an incredible play
