Financial writer is skeptical. Cliff notes version is the NFL has been insincere about wanting a franchise here from the start because they know LA is unwilling to use public money for a stadium. That will never change.
Instead, Los Angeles is considered a permanent carrot to extort money from cities and taxpayers around the country to pony up for stadiums. If a team ever moves here, the carrot is gone and the free money pipeline disappears.
There has been enough history with powerful movers and shakers in LA that something would have been done by now if the NFL really wanted a team here.
