What would we be saying about an eagles defense that almost shut out and outscored the best offense in the NFL?
Doesn't matter what the D did, if Foles did that yesterday, we'd have him in the HOF.

And it's not just Foles. If Wilson was an Eagles QB and had the exact same game, we'd be pissed that no one is giving Russ credit for being elite and that even with a Super Bowl the typical bias against Philly is coming out.

If Seattle's D wasn't one of the best of all time, if it was just really good, not historically good, they'd still be the best team in the NFL because Wilson would have to do more, and the kid has shown that he can when called upon.

While I do not know that he can carry his team (as he has not needed to) I can not see how anyone can question his play last night. I have seen some other games this year where he did not look so hot. But he is only a second year QB who should only get better. Barring a major setback he should be a VERY good Qb for years to come.

vs the Falcons in the divisional round last year is when I think Wilson showed what his ceiling is and what he can do when called upon to carry the team.

Lynch had 46 yards for the game. They were down 20-0 at half in one of the toughest places to play (ATL, when the Falcons are good). Wilson finished 24/36 for 385, 2 TDs and one INT (the INT was on a Hail Mary at the end of the game) He added 60 yards and a TD on 7 carries.

He got the ball with 3 min to play and left the field after a 7 play, 61 yard scoring drive with 30 seconds left and a 1 point lead. His D proceeded to give up 41 yards on two plays and allowed ATL to kick the game winning FG.

If people were saying that the eagles D was one of the best of all time, I don't think we would be complaining about bias against Philly, no matter what Foles (or whomever the qb was) did.

And of course it matters what the defense did, it allowed him to make quite a few short, safer throws.

Russel Wilson is a fantastic qb, and he played well, but even if he hadn't the Seahawks defense was so dominant they probably still would have won. That isn't discrediting Wilson, just giving the defense the credit it deserves.

I hear ya. Only disagreement is...we're Philadelphians, we'd still be pissed about something, might as well be our QB being overlooked haha

I haven't seen to many of his games so I will defer to you on this one. As I said after last night I would find a hard time knocking him on anything.

You probably have a point there.

That's the difference between the two
no, i'm not missing the point. russell wilson ran 3 times for 26 yards in the super bowl. his defense gave up 8 points. mcnabb would have won under the same circumstances.

The Eagles wish they had a defense that would have held Manning to 8 points during the time McNabb was there.

More often than not, Wilson manages the game, because that D is filthy and he doesn't need to do much, but to call him a game manager is just incorrect.

When Seattle has needed Wilson to make big plays, he most certainly has. Look at the 4th down play against SF two weeks ago. He made some REAL big plays in the playoffs last year to lead the Seahawks to a comeback win against Washington and an almost win against Atlanta.

Russell Wilson's success or people liking his style of play is in no way a slight to Foles.
I'm happy with Foles so far but I wanted Wilson in 2012 and that opinion hasn't changed.
