That's actually my point--it gave the better defense even more of an edge. Earlier in the regular season, the over-officiating of defensive plays was more of an equalizer.
The quality of play was noticeably higher in the NFC this past season. It was evident throughout the playoffs. Any of the top three NFC teams would have defeated that Broncos team. They just had deeper rosters and far, far better defenses.
