Sentiment in this country is clearly running against that franchise in Washington, but the NFL refuses to acknowledge it and won't force the change. The league is clearly at fault and is living in the 19th century.

Then we have our duly elected officials in Washington, each of whom probably gets a nice little Christmas present from Danny Boy for not listening to the people who put them there, but I won't go into that.

If the NFL was genuine -- real, free from hypocrisy or pretense; sincere -- it would admit the name is racist, it's a slur, it's an insult to the most downtrodden group of Americans out there and is no different than naming a team the Brownskins, Blackskins or Yellowskins.

The NFL is NOT genuine -- it is guilty of ignoring history the same way the Russians did last night and no amount of excuse making on its part will ever change that -- at least and until it forces Danny Boy to change that name, and just between you, me and the wall, I ain't holding my breath.
