  • Comcast buying Time Warner cable

Combined with Comcast moving a lot of NBCU jobs down to Philadelphia, Philadelphia has been pretty successful in stealing jobs from NYC recently.

My guess is that NYC was too interested in attracting "Russian Billionaires" during the last 12 years.

Aren't they starting to flirt with a monopoly like the phone companies in the early '90s?

Sort of, but not really. There are lot of other ways to get television these days.

I think their competition is wireless. Verizon, ATT., etc. Gonna be interesting to see how this plays out.

Still dish and other ways to get tv, right?
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

Led by Comcast and TWC, American cable companies have the lowest customer satisfaction of any industry in the United States, including airlines and health insurance companies according to this post from boy genius report. Not seeing where this merger is pro-consumer.

They're all becoming the same, though. The reason I went with cable is because I didn't need to shell out $8/receiver for the three rooms that get lighter TV traffic in my house.

My cable company claims that on the 18th, if you don't get new receivers, the TVs with just lines running into them will no longer get service.

Now I have to decide if saving $20-30/month is worth going back to AT&T Uverse, or if I want to just roll the dice with renegotiating.

I have a strange fascination with it, mainly because it just seems so blatantly wrong.

But really there is no right answer.

It's like electric cars. You think that's going to stop big oil? Who do you think is going to buy up all the charging stations?

Twc is the mother fucking anti Christ. Worst customer service and technical support you can imagine.

I am only forced to deal with them for internet. No home phone and have directv for cable. You want to talk about a company that is a total 180 from those assholes at TWC look at directv. They're fantastic.

Nonsense. TV providers bank on the notion that Americans are fat, lazy slobs that never leave the couch, and will shell out whatever rate they decide to charge to keep the glow coming from the idiot box.
