Than working at Walmart. Never-ending unemployment for all!
I know, I just don't get it I guess, I think some people think that this should not be the "land of opportunity" any more, they want it to be the land of "only so much opportunity"
Everything else should be given to the gov. for redistribution.
I know that when I was running equipment for FEMA down to New Orleans there were trucks from all segments of Corporate America sitting there with food, water, blankets, supplies, etc,
All LOOOONG before anyone from the gov. had clue what to do. I remember helping unload truck loads of water and supplies, a LOT of it from WALMART trucks, all for free.

I find it funny you are promoting jobs at Walmart as "employment" when you've argued that the reduction in unemployment and new jobs created were actually just underemployment. So now you laud underemployment as employment? This cornfield of strawmen has a fair number of goalposts in it.

BUT remember, these are the bad guys.
Yes all corporations are bad had except the ones that Riccardo says I love. That's my argument in a nutshell.
Oh wait. No its not. Corporations do good and bad things. Like the government. My world is shades of grey.
I'm happy to hear your small business received work from the federal government. Did you make good use of my redistributed wealth?
Yeah you're right, all Walmart jobs are "underemployment". And as you seem to continue to argue, a less paying or even part-time job at Walmart is worse than no job at all. Clueless!
Yeah, just pay to go back to school or open your own business; the sky's the limit for your average low level Walmart employee. Just tighten up those boot straps and get after it! Come on dude...

If you must know, I had better paying loads here from the private sector, I took the load as a means to get down there and "VOLUNTEER" my time, instead of sitting on the sidelines complaining about things you evidently know little about.

Care to try again?
I commend you for volunteering as well as large companies that did the same. And as I said, corporations do good things as well as bad things. As does the government.
Helping out in a time of national crisis, however, does not exonerate the way large corporations behave in a general sense. They control policy through lobbying that can't be matched by citizens or smaller businesses. They receive tax breaks, subsidies, and legislative decisions that benefit them and their shareholders while hurting the rest of us. Productivity has risen consistently since the late 1970s while real median family income growth has stagnated. So where has much of that increased productivity benefit gone? Executive pay for one, which has far outpaced wages in that same time span.
So yeah, it's great that Walmart and other mega corporations volunteered time in a national crisis (although I'm sure their cost for volunteering was far less significant than yours while their exposure and benefit possibly much greater), they're still abusing the citizenry and their employees in may ways.

Here's your argument:
Your worth is $10. I'm going to give you $5. Take it or leave it and appreciate what I'm offering you.
Simply providing low paying jobs when the profits and revenue filter primarily to the top isn't going to make me cheer for corporations like Walmart. Sorry.
The issue of retail jobs become less valuable is a different issue. America for the most part is fat and happy. We like buying cheap shit. And for many people, all they can afford is cheap shit from Walmart. I don't know how to break that cycle without increasing wages tot he point that more expensive, domestically produced products can actually be considered affordable. Are corporations going to take those steps?
Increase costs of manufacturing by doing it in the United States. Due to that, increase costs of the products on the shelves. Due to that, increase wages of the general public in order to afford those products? That might work - if some of the top income/wealth is willing to be trimmed.
I don't see that happening. Corporations have historically looked to make things as cheaply as possible so that wages can stay as low as possible and profits and top level wealth remain high.
Your argument seems to be - Walmart has a job that only pays $26,000 - don't take it because they suck. You are better off unemployed.
Your constant spinning in this thread is a bore. As usual, feel free to have the last word.
I never said don't work at Walmart and stay unemployed. I said that they offer little choice otherwise. It's a significant portion of economies and employment in many areas. That is problematic. Just because Walmart offering a low paying job and/or the primary retail outlet in a community is the only choice doesn't mean it's a good choice.
If those low level employees at Walmart don't like the fact that Walmart is a significant portion of their economy, then they should go back to school and/ or mortgage everything they have and open up another retail outlet in town.

That, or shut up and work!
Mortgage what? People like that shouldn't be allowed to own anything substantial. Because the libruls changed the laws these people caused the housing bubble against the will of the benevolent banking corporations.
