What do you think about the kid from WCU that hit the shots but didn't get paid? He didn't exactly make them the way he needed to and now that he didn't get paid people are mad at teh school. Originally I sided with the kid but after reading the rules (That he signed off on) I have changed my tune. The rules clearly stated that he had 25 seconds to make 1 layup, 1 free throw, 1 Three pointer and 1 shot from half court. He had unlimited chances at the first 3 but could only take 1 shot from mid court. Well, he made the first three on his first try but needed 2 tries from mid court which clearly voided the contest. Now everyone is up in arms defending the kid and blaming WCU for going back on its word and accusing them of changing the rules. Pizza Hut has now kicked in the $10k for teh kid. This is the problem with the world today. Particulary with the youth of America. No wonder this generation has a sense of entitlement. The kid didn't earn it but he gets paid anyway?

It sucked that they kept the clock running after he missed the first half-court shot rather than just ending it there. Had they ended it once he missed they likely would have avoided all of this. Keeping the clock on and letting him take another shot implied that he could continue. It seems that WCU personnel involved didn't have a full understand of the rules either.
As for overarching opinions of entitlement of youth and all that - I think you're reaching. This is pretty much a raffle. WCU didn't pay him out and Pizza Hut got positive publicity among a group of people (college students) who likely make up a large customer demographic in that region.--

After the fact WCU can go back to the contract and legally they're right but they made this a complicated situation by not ending the contest when they should. I'm not saying they should have to pay out the winnings, but they screwed up.--
