What is the deal with all of the ex-Phillies with brain cancer?

This was a story last summer when Darren Daulton was diagnosed with brain cancer. Recently, Curt Schilling had surgery for some sort of cancer, although to the best of my knowledge his family did not say what type it was.

Now, somewhat ominously, Mike Schmidt is missing training camp for some sort of medical treatment which "requires him to remain near his doctors".

It makes you wonder if there was something about the Vet or some sort of substance or drug all of those guys were exposed to.

I seem to recall the Vet was built on some sort of landfill.

IE, this article is from '95 but seems to poo-poo the possibility that the area has harmful side effects; even though after reading it I'm making sure I've got bottled water at any gaytes/picnics.
