This goes against my theory that they are all just a-holes.
How does a researcher ensure his/her data is accurate when the sample population is made up of untruthful people who like to say provocative things for effect and prefer anonymity? -
Not my field, but the possibly of untruthful responses must exist in a lot of research. I surmise there are methodological and statistical techniques to deal with the issue.Originally posted by AthensEagle View Post--------

Indeed, and that's why they ask the same question 5 different ways - to tease out the truth
There's an immense amount of expertise in designing the questions, the order they are asked and the choice of specific trigger words in them
Once you dive into it and learn the science & psychology behind good research methods, its really pretty amazing what they can learn about both your conscious and unconscious thoughts.
My charming bride is a Social Psychologist and does this for a living; I've managed to grasp a few nuggets along the way but I've also learned how little I really understand about itComment
