  • Cooper over Maclin and Avant

Reports are that the Iggs top priority is to re-sign Cooper not Maclin and cut Avant to clear cap space.

I'm ok with Coop...seems to have a good rapport with Foles. Need a legit slot guy if Coop is your #2 or need a legit #2 and Coop works the slot.

Source: Cooper is more of a priority than Maclin

As mentioned on Tuesday’s Pro Football Talk on NBCSN, Cooper is the higher priority than Maclin. Indeed, it’s our understanding that it’s not even close.

If that is true I would expect them to draft a wr fairly early

Report: Eagles expected to part ways with Jason Avant

The Eagles have a couple of wide receivers heading for free agency in Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper and they may free some cap space to sign one or both of them by dropping another wideout from the roster.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Eagles are expected to part ways with veteran Jason Avant. Avant is scheduled to count $3.96 million against the cap in 2014 and has a roster bonus of $1 million due on March 15, which would be the two leading reasons why the team would move on without him.

Avant had 38 catches for 447 yards and two touchdowns last season and has been a complementary receiver in all eight of his seasons with the Eagles. Some of the need for that complement is lessened by the large role of tight ends Brent Celek and Zach Ertz in the offense and there’s little reason to think that would change in Chip Kelly’s second season as head coach.

McLane credited him with being a strong presence in the locker room, although that impact appears to weigh less to them than the chance to use some of Avant’s money on players more essential to the lineup on the field.

Over the weekend, a report emerged that the Eagles have placed a higher priority on keeping receiver Jeremy Maclin than keeping receiver Riley Cooper.

I'm in the minority believing that the Eagles should keep Cooper if it comes to that. It's a close call and it's going to depend partly on which attributes can mostly likely be replaced in the draft. I think they want a mixture of attributes from their WR group. Money is a factor, especially looking down the road at a large QB contract etc.

I trust kelly. if he's making the call then he must be comfortable with Riley.

I feel like he can plug and play WR's pretty easily into his system if he has Jackson as his #1. the 2 and 3 and 4 are easier to plug in with a weapon like Jackson in this system.

if they keep cooper for a decent amount of money that's 1 less problem area in the draft and FA. would like to keep both if they can.

I'd be cool with this if they bring in Benjamin

Even though I'd rather they make a move for Justin Gilbert or Darqueze Dennard.

i can't see eagles using their 1st on a WR no matter what. just too many needs on D.

I want Pryor so bad it's not even funny. Now I know how Riccardo feels during Fleet Week.

Told you all that Profootballtalk was more wishy washy than a woman on her period

Profootballtalk reports that free agent Riley Cooper is more of a priority for the Eagles to re-sign than Jeremy Maclin.

It's PFT's Mike Florio's understanding that "it's not even close." This contradicts a Philadelphia Inquirer report from last weekend that the team would prefer to re-sign Maclin over Cooper. Florio has been all over Cooper this month. Last week, a source informed PFT that Cooper will be in "significant demand" once free agency opens March 11. Cooper doesn't have quite the injury history Maclin does and broke out in coach Chip Kelly's offense in 2013. Maclin is still an unknown to the current Eagles staff. Both players would have suitors on the open market.

If he wants to take a lowball sure, but I am sure he could get more on the open market. Coop should be the priority, it's a what have u done lately for me league.
