  • This kind of sh*t with Eagles' FAs resigining never happened with Banner in charge

When Banner was in charge, it was either resign well before you original contract is up or then he would go into smear campaign mode.

If a player got to FA, smear campaign mode was in full effect.

During smear campaign mode, all sorts of a sledge dump attempting to diminish the value of a player would be leaked to the press via "unnamed sources". Or maybe in extreme cases this smear campaign would be used in combination with some sort of tag (franchise, transition, etc.).

It was rare that the Eagles would resign a player who underwent the full going to FA and undergo the Banner smear campaign thing.

I think the whole process left any players that actually did resign demoralized and less committed to the team.

agreed. So happy that guy is gone. Now that he flopped with the Browns, I guaranfuckingtee he will never get a prez, COO or GM job again in the league.

At least we still have Mythlane saying signing Riley Cooper is not a priority and then backtracking and saying a Cooper signing is imminent the next day.

          True.

... and did anyone mention the Banner Bat phone on the Eagles sidelines back in the day? Good chance he was in charge of the coordinators during Reid's early years.

Very Happy the days of the smear Campaign are gone

very happy with the front office so far. Making the Book Ends a priority shows me they are building it right,,,now Sigh Donny Jones fer Chris sakes, and we can move forwards with FA.

              I agree 100%

              ..fuck a Banner.

What benefits he brought with financial managing of the cap, he fucked away with his inability to operate with people.

Doesn't it feel great to be right

And not EL-WRONGO? We'd probably have at least 2 Super Bowls if it wasn't for that guy. Stay strong, Joe.

Andrew Brandt wrote an article for SI and said the same thing: a good cap guy can handle moving the numbers around a spreadsheet, but managing the people side of it, egos and all, is the big difference between teams

                    http://mmqb.si.com/2014/02/26/nfl-salary-cap-explained/

Like any successful organization, the best-managed NFL teams have skilled people who stay in their lanes, focusing on what they do best and allowing others to do the same.

The job of managing a team’s player payroll and cap often is misperceived to be primarily about numbers. The numbers work themselves out; a well-oiled calculator can do most of that. The more important part of the job is the people part: professionally and tactfully handling internal and external conflicts.

How did this guy stick around so long here? It's mind blowing. Makes you question Lurie's judgment.

Let's not forget that Peters is over the age of 30. A player over the age of 30, performing at any level, stood zero chance of getting a fair shake from Ratface.
