Not a 1 year with a lot of options--they want to give him a ture multiyear deal. This says to me that Maclin wants possibly to break the bank as a UFA next year.

I say they let him. If he's playing for a big contract, he'll do whatever it takes to stay on the field and have an awesome season. I like it...
The Eagles are in a position, I would think, to give Maclin substantial guaranteed money up front.
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. It's a violent sport. Take the money.
Often the average person's idea of substantial guaranteed money and a professional athlete's idea of substantial money are miles apart. Maclin wants what Desean got. Maybe more. He's not going to get it from the Eagles.
I'm worried to be honest. If they lose Maclin and Jackson misses significant time to injury? Riley Cooper is your #1 receiver. Jayzuz H!!!
Last year they proved they can survive without Maclin. No way do they survive without Jackson and no viable alternative.
After 2012, his value should probably have been somewhere in the middle of those two. If he's not going to go all Steve Smith (Giants) on our asses, he's easily worth $10 mil. It's a sucky situation for Maclin.
Probably looks at the Eagles season that just passed and sees a bunch of offensive players who had career years in Chip's system. I bet he thinks there will be a bigger purse for him next year, when he presumably does the same thing. Quite the gamble when someone's offering you a long term deal.
