Not likely with so many options and Foles in love with Cooper. Definitely should have tested the free agent market. He would have gotten more money. Hell, Cooper could have gotten twice the money but I think he was afraid of dealing with a new locker room.

But good for the Iggles.
actually, it's possible. the year before in foles last three starts he targeted maclin something like 12 times a game.
he does throw to cooper a ton...but that started to lessen towards the end of the year as he started to go to the tight ends more often.

I think even a merely decent year gets him a solid deal as long as he stays healthy....and as long as he stays healthy, he's bound to have a decent year.
Either way, I'm happy we got him for this year. There's a lot of WR talent in this draft, but it would have been a shame to not see Maclin play at least 1 year under Chip.
I think what's really interesting is the fact that both Maclin and Cooper could have tested free agency and opted not to. It shows you that there is some real value in what the Eagles are doing as an organization. Players want to be here. You have to love that.

yep. maclin only had like 850 and 7 in 2012, but it seemed like foles loved him. mac attack was also fluffing foles hard after his GW drive against tampa.
i think you'll see foles stick to cooper in the red zone. he's a big target, and when foles throws up a prayer, he likes to direct it towards cooper. but even in cooper's 3 best games, which came against tampa, oakland, and green bay, he caught 4, 5, and 3 passes. the dude doesn't get an incredible amount of targets. there is room for maclin.

DeSean didn't play in any of those games. Of course Maclin is going to have more targets when 10 is out. Ertz wasn't an option on that team either. They also didn't run the ball like they do with Chip.
I'm extremely happy that both guys are back, I just think we shouldn't expect any monster years from any one player (excluding Shady) and instead expect good years from all of them.

I think the reason Cooper's numbers exploded when Foles took over is that Foles is always trying to get it to the open guy, not falling in love with one guy.
Cooper only had 3 big games, all in the middle of the season. I think his production spiked because teams were really trying to take away Jackson and Foles took advantage in a way Vick didn't. Beyond that, Ertz started to emerge late in the year which appeared to be a combination of his growth and defenses having to respect Cooper a little more.
We don't yet know how Chip will use Jackson, Cooper and Maclin -- either together or not. But if Cooper puts up big numbers next year it'll probablyl be because he's the poison teams pick, not because he's Foles' security blanket.
