  • Worilds signs one-year deal

and is now off the market.

I was really thinking that either Worilds or Orakpo might be the Eagles' big FA signing. Oh, well.

Looks like they'll need to find Cole's replacement in the draft.

It's a transition tag and other teams can still sign him to an offer sheet.

Immediately signing a tag is a nice FU to the clubs that throw it out for the purpose of negotiations. Now their cap numbers are going to be higher, and they can't do the Banner tactic of removing the tag.

Can they still negotiate a long term deal or is his season contract now finalized?

They can, but I think the player gains a little leverage once he's locked in at that guaranteed higher rate.

I read a blurb that they are looking to possibly cut Ike Taylor and Woodley eventually (Woodley would only bring them savings if designated as a post-June 1 cut).

Apparently cutting Woodley gives them something like a $10 million cap hit (divided over two seasons if designated post-June).

Yesterday Pat Kirwan made a comment about Alex Mack that basically the Browns wanted another team to do their negotiating for them. They'd set the market, and they'll just swoop in and match because they have plenty of money.

Maybe the Steelers were hoping for something similar.
