  • I think SF could be a trade partner

Just reading the tea leaves without any inside knowledge of the situation but D.Jax to SF makes a lot of sense for both teams. SF needs a speedy WR to stretch the field as they try to match up w/ Seattle. SF has picks 30, 56, 61, 77 & 94 in the first three rounds and they would get a guy who is ready to play. Using the Percy Harvin trade last year as a guideline he was worth a 1st rd pick. Since the SF pick is lower in the round; could the Birds ask for # 30 & 94 for D.Jax? Does that get it done? Or maybe both 56 & 61?

The Birds could also be looking ahead and worry about Jax's future cap number as well as his physical condition by the end of the contract. Having the 22 & 30th picks could make them a real contender and they would likely use one of those picks to get his replacement esp if the draft is filled with quality WR's as many have suggested.

The side bars to the deal is D.Jax going back to the Bay area and Tom Gamble negotiating with his old team.

It may not happen but could benefit both teams.

    With a few moves

the Eagles are built to win now. There's no way we should give up Jackson for picks. The offense is fine (maybe add some OL depth and a solid backup QB). Focus on defense. The offense isn't broke, so don't try to fix it.

I need to know what people are smoking to think they would be remotely close to trading Jackson. He's not going anywhere. Period.

I think 56 and 61 would be reasonable. Now it all depends what they do with those picks.

DJax cap number is pretty big over the next couple years at about $12 mil per season, but the "dead money" portion is actually pretty small. His "dead money" is only $4 mil in 2015 and $2 mil in 2016.

That's why he was bitching about his contract...not enough of it is guaranteed to prevent him being cut if he gets injured. As far as his contract is concerned, the Iggs are fine going forward.

D Jax is way too valuable in this offense. he had the 2nd most yards receiving in eagle history last year. why give him away for a pick, esp to a team we are competing against to make the SB?

I'd never entertain trading jackson this year. there's no reason to.

Don't believe anything you read on PFT.com, if he is pissed about his contract that is a headache for sure...but it hardly means we are shopping him right this second. Even if we are, we are deep at WR now after Coop and Maclin resigned, so much so they cut Avant...and there is always FA and the draft coming up to get more. I do get the feeling the Djax situation doesn't really bother Chip, he is a run first coach that likes better blocking wideouts. Djax=bad blocker...exciting player, but bad blocker.

Why trade him if only to turn around and try to find a replacement? Jackson had a great year last year, and that was without Maclin on the field. Add Maclin to the mix, and we will start seeing even more opportunities for DJax to make big plays.
