i don't know of too many places whose fries are fake, but the healthier oil doesn't taste as good. when i walk into a place like in-n-out i accept that i will not eat anything remotely healthy.

Hell yeah! In-N-Out isn't that good in my opinion. I live 200 yards from one, and I only eat there once every three months. Fries are terrible. But everybody else swears they have the best burgers.

I agree about In-N-Out being a little overrated, but it's nice to have a burger chain out here that guarantees fresh ingredients.

I may feel groggy after eating a double-double but it sure as hell beats the feeling I would get eating at a McDonalds/BurgerKing/etc..

Having never been to California (honest) I have no idea what your In-N-Out is like.

We have what I've always considered to be a convenience store 100 yards from our house that is called In-N-Out. It has the usual fare you find at such establishments and while they say they do make hoagies and other fast foods, I've never seen anybody go there for anything other than the usual milk, bread, soda, etc. you get from Wawa or 7-11.

Is it "stealing" the name or is it a different version of the same chain?

Strictly a food chain restaurant. It has this hidden menu where you can request your burger "animal style" or some vegan crap. Everything is made once you order.

5 guys is solid around here. But I think they have the reverse issue - mediocre burgers and good fries.

Smashburger is also decent but overrated to the things I've heard about it

I dunno if WaWa could even work in NYC anymore, they are obsessed with only opening new stores with room for the gas pumps.

You are correct and that is probably at least one reason why they are not in NYC.

I wonder if the one on Columbus Ave in S. Phila is still there. That one didn't have a gas station but there was a gas station on the same property. I always thought Wawa might try to buy the gas station in order to fit their current business model.

Since I Overbrooked this thread into a bit of a burger discussion (sorry KG, you try and occasionally succeed but OB is the master) I have to mention that I need to check out the following place. There is one a couple of blocks away and I've been by there many times but never eaten there. Not really a fast food place but looks like they are setting up a chain business model.

I'd guess they simply have not popped up on in-and-out's radar. There's no magic system for stopping people from putting a sign up and there's no reason for in-and-out west coast to register in pa, so I'm guessing they have no idea about the local minimart in...Horsham?

No one knew about the stork club in San Fran until an exec took a trip one day and then stork club nyc filled suit
