  • Vikings the first team to overspend on a FA

It was their own guy, but $42.5 20M guaranteed for a rotational player in Griffen?? That's over 5 years.

    Flufftastic

    even for you.

Jared Allen is 32 yrs old and moving on. Griffen has posted 13 sacks over the last couple of seasons in the "rotational" role. The cap (and the Vikings space) is huge AND I have heard that Tampa Bay is willing to pay Michael Johnson big bucks (eliminating Minnesota from getting a *really* high-priced FA).

You only brought this up because Griffen looked like a good fit with Chip's Eagles and Griffen didn't sign with Philadelphia.

I'm getting the feeling he's not going to be the first pass rusher to be way overpaid this offseason.

I doubt Eagles are gonna make a merely serviceable player one of the highest paid players on their team, and truthfully I agree with that stance.

I sure hope the Eagles can get pass rush help in the draft...

WTF are you talking about? I haven't thought about ANY player being a good fit on the Eagles.

why didn't you post about GB "overspending" ($9.5/season) for Sam Shields? Note: Shields re-signed with GB the day before Griffen?

Shields is a proven starter in the league--not a rotational player. Full time, good CBs get paid quite a bit more than situational DEs.

                One year as a starter

14 games started in 2013. 35 games started in four years. He was overpaid.
