  • Is it just me

or does it seem like there is an actual METHOD to how this FO is operating ? It just feels different for some reason. I can't imagine there being any kind of excitement right now if this was still a Joe Banner led front office. I'm already excited to get next season started. Feels good.

there's a lot of chip fluffing on this board. Not that I don't like chip, but there's a very Buddy Ryan feel here.

And Chip is like a reverse buddy - patching the D and loading the O

They are avoiding the trap of the big signing and getting serviceable players and adding depth. I like what I see. Those huge free agent binges don't win superbowls, Dream Team comes to mind. I have to believe we are going to see a defense heavy draft now.

I don't know. Yeah, I guess that since the "dream team" year they have only targeted mid-to-low range free agents and not the top names out there. Everybody says it is prudent and they are picking up under the radar guys. But it still feels a little like "we're the smartest guys in the room" syndrome to me. I know Nnamdi was a disaster. But Jon Runyan was the Top Free agent available one year and he worked out pretty well. Same with Troy Vincent. They year we got both Kearse and T.O. we ended up in the Super Bowl so I'm not entirely convinced that NOT being involved with Byrd and Ware (2 glaring positions of weakness) was the right thing to do. Time will tell.

I'm not ready to go that far

It seems like the defense got much better towards the end of the year, and I think we'll see them go defense early. I think the Eagles are really headed in the right direction.

I think you are absolutely correct about this. It is possible to make a great big money free agency signing. Of course, the risk is higher and you have to be willing to accept that.

Our glaring need was S as everyone knows. Byrd wanted too much money, and it has been said that Ward might not have been a good fit here. We got a very serviceable S in Jenkins. There wasn't a huge pass rusher available which is the other big need. I just can't see spending so much money on a S even though it was a position most needing an upgrade. We re-signed Jones which was really critical as well. There is no Kearse or TO in this free agent pool this year. This years draft is said to be the deepest in a few decades. I have think that the pass rushing help is coming there or else we are going to have to win games 42-40 this year.

and I would have liked to have had both of those guys become Eagles, but I have more trust that this front office's decision not to sign them was not just a case of being penny pinchers, but something more.
