There's absolutely nothing cruel about what I'm doing. They have people door, not dog door, access to my garage which has plenty of water, beds for both of them, and tons of toys, not to mention all the indoor space to move around in that they could want. It's pretty much the same setup they have at the daycare.

That's cool. The dogs are probably in the garage half the time.

Who gives a sh*t if a dog is barking during the day? Early in the morning or late at night I understand, but you said they're inside by 5:30?

Also, I have a 1 year old Rottweiler and a 10 year old cocker spaniel who both (used to) bark incessantly. Invest in a quality private training program. You mentioned the thing about your wife's shoes. It'll be worth it. Complete 360.

Probably not, but all house doors are locked. I don't park in the garage when I do this, so I basically just lock it down.

Not for the shiba. He's been through a lot of training. The trainer chalked it up to excess energy, so I started taking him to the daycare everyday. That helped. I see him getting better about stuff. I'm finally starting to think about replacing the couch he ruined.

ummm...people like me who work from a home office trying to conduct business during the day... while you let your dogs bark because you can't imagine why that might be an issue . Or maybe people with newborns trying to sleep at different times of the day, or people who work 3rd shift and sleep during the early part of the day. Any number of legitimate reasons why people give a shit about a dog barking during the day

I just didn't imagine the barking to be unending and constant. A few periods, every once in awhile, just doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
