Now Domowitch is speculating on trading Jackson.

Well, if nothing else, the Eagles’ acquisition Thursday of 31-year-old jack-of-all-trades Darren Sproles managed to divert the attention of the talk-show gabbers to something else besides Malcolm Jenkins v. Jairus Byrd.

    -snip-
After re-signing Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin, and now adding a unique weapon like Sproles, who caught 71 passes last season and had seven touchdown catches in two of the last three seasons, and a draft coming up that includes one of the best and deepest wide-receiving classes in recent history, might the Eagles be willing to trade Jackson for more picks? Believe me when I tell you it’s been talked about on the second floor of NovaCare.

I still can't see it happening.

Sproles is here to spell Shady, not play the slot. Kelly got him because he doesn't want to lose the pass-catching threat when McCoy comes out of the game. Brown is a good runner, but doesn't have that element.

The primary issue, though, is that two of these playmakers are on one-year deals: Maclin and Sproles. Even if Maclin is healthy and productive, there's no guarantee you can keep him beyond this coming season. Sproles will also be FA and with some wear on the tires.

I think we'll see them draft another WR, though. If that rookie shows something and Maclin comes back healthy and gets a mid-year extension, I could see Jackson being gone next offseason. But banking on post-injury Maclin and Cooper as your top receivers this coming season just seems too unwise.

If you have to choose, it's gotta be a healthy Maclin, right?

I'm not calling him a liar, but this move would be insanity.

At the end of the season. If Maclin and Sproles each have healthy, productive years, I think you choose to offer Maclin the contract necessary to keep him.

HAS to be a 1st rounder...

If they could somehow turn this into being able to draft Sammy Watkins, I'd be all for it. I think he is that good.

                    Oh, absolutely.

I'm pretty sure Maclin gets his extension in-season if he's healthy, so don't expect the Eagles to necessarily use up all their cap space.

Don't think the timing is good...

1)Maclin is returning from a serious injury in a show me situation.
2)Sproles has only 1 yr to go on his contract and didn't want to be traded.

I like the depth and we currently can afford them, but I wouldn't pass(excuse the pun) on a talented WR in the draft.

So let me see if I have this right.

In a draft where there's going to be a glut of wide receivers, Domo is suggesting that another team would take a high priced, highly insecure but talented headache?

I wish this rumor would die a violent death

It makes no sense for us to get rid of our best WR, who happens to be an elite receiver. We have a gluttony of weapons, and that's the way Chip wants it. The advent of the internet now forces journalists to dig up something that isn't there. I cant imagine that Sproles was brought in as insurance for getting rid of DJax

How this may work with an extra pick or two.
