This kinda makes sense, though. The longer a coaching staff & front office stays in town, the more likely they will begin to develop relationships with local media. Therefore, a long-entrenched coaching staff will probably feed more information to the local media.
With only Duce and Ted Williams sticking around from Reid's coaching staff, and with all the turnover on Howie's side of the shop, it's mostly relatively new faces. If Chip Kelly values secrecy as much as his buddy Belichick, it's easier to enforce that on a staff that hasn't yet developed relationships with local media.
I say more power to him. Make the local press work for their paycheck.
