Desean Jackson:Brandon Marshall?

About the only thing I can come up with as a similar situation to whatever is going with Jackson is what has gone on with Brandon Marshall, who is working on his third team.

Marshall is an undeniable talent, has been to multiple (5) pro bowls, and has clearly been each of his team's #1 WR option. One difference from Jackson is that Marshall has had a bunch of injuries. Another is that Marshall is a couple of years older.

This whole issue is probably a combo of behind-the-scenes team stuff, money, and off-field concerns (probably in that order). It will suck if he goes to an NFC team like Seattle or SF. I saw a tweet (I think it was from DJax) showing him and Pete Carroll chatting during college recruiting. If he is traded, I would prefer he go to the Jets or Raiders.

Marshall has been a #1 WR now on three different teams and I am sure each of his teams' fan bases had similar "WTF is going on here?!" questions.

I agree that it has been a clusterfuck. But remember when Howie went on record and stated that it would be hard to justify giving someone like Byrd or Ward a bonus bigger than anyone else on the team?

I am thinking another round of guaranteed money for Jackson after giving him $15 million two years ago might not go over so well with the rest of the team. What do you think would make him happy? Another $10 million up front? $20? Interesting that his agent has been silent.

They did give Peters a very large bonus, so maybe I am barking up the wrong tree.
