  • Just heard an interesting theory on DJax

Sorry if this has already been discussed. His current agent, Joel Segal, did not negotiate his current deal. Therefore, he has not made a dime from Desean yet. He is the one with the most to gain from either a restructuring or a new deal. There is some speculation that Segal is the one who has been fueling the fire. There is some evidence on social media that Jackson has been made aware of this (possibly, in part, by Kelly). Who the hell knows but this one actually made a little sense to me. Bring back Kelly Green's beloved Rosencrud!

You know, I've been thinking about this lately and only DJax or his agent stand to gain from this. Suddenly, Kempski pulls a story out of his ass about DJax not fitting the culture. Then the story dies for a week. Out of nowhere, reports start emerging that the Eagles are looking to move him.

Oddly enough, "a source close to DeSean" starts telling the media that Jackson would be hurt if he wasn't in the plans moving forward - effectively pitting the fan base against the FO.

Now, this sets DJax up to either be traded, which would result in a restructured deal, or being cut outright. Who's the only one with nothing to lose from this and who stands to gain from this? Segal either gets a new deal here or gets a new deal elsewhere. Win/win.

i never once thought about the agent as a problem and now that sort of makes a little sense. what better way to get himself a new deal...desean goes to a new team and restructures or eagles restructure...and the agent gets a cut.

if desean is on the roster at the start of the season he gets 10 million....very interesting.

It could all be solved if Kempski would out his original source. There's no reason for that to be sacred. These are sports pages, not breaking news. Until he does, my vote says Kempski made it up from the start and should lose his job over this one.

Just because it's not Watergate, that doesn't mean a source has nothing to be scared of.

If it's an Eagles employee, they could/might can him. If it's an agent, he'd get a reputation of being a leak and might hinder his future relationships with teams/players. If Kempski outs his source, he'll never get a piece of info from another source again.

Nothing is "life and death" but people still have something to lose by being outed/doing the outing.

If everyone just told the truth all the time then there would be nothing to worry about!

The simple answer is that there likely wasn't a source.

Using unnamed sources has gotten completely out of hand in sports journalism. Shouldn't even be called journalism anymore. It's free reign to make up any fucking thing you want.

That's a lazy excuse for not liking something that is said by a reporter. How can anyone disprove your sound theory since the source won't be identified? Convenient.
