  • An Objective look at Jackson and Cooper

    Stats

I dont favor Cooper or Jackson but I look at what I got to see this year

Essentially Jackson had more than a third of a season more than Cooper to accumulate his stats

Cooper was essentially out of play the first 5 games including the Giants game when Foles came in and won the game. He also got no looks from Vick when Vick came back in the next Giants the Eagles lost. That is over 1/3 of the reg season he essentially didnt get targets

After that the targets were pretty much even.

if you look at the individual stats

Jackson had 126 targets Cooper 84 Jackson had 82 receptions Cooper 47 Jackson 1332yds Cooper 835yds Jackson averaged 16.2 yds per rec. Cooper averaged `17.8 yds and with a third of a season less to get them Cooper had 8tds to Jacksons 9

I think they compliment each other but I do NOT think Jackson is worth the biggest contract on this team NO FUCKING WAY - I hope he learned his lesson and shuts his mouth up and plays the game the way he should instead of whining about targets. Sadly I dont think that is in him.

Perhaps you could enlighten us as to why Cooper didn't play much the beginning of the season, while DJax did. Could it possibly have been because Coop isn't the same caliber of player as Jackson? Comparing Cooper to Jackson makes Cooper look mediocre.

Great wide receivers get paid. So do great quarterbacks, great pass rushers, and great left tackles. Jackson is one of the best receivers in the league. The Eagles have a 3rd year QB that was picked in the 3rd round (so of course he isn't getting paid much right now). We don't have an elite pass rusher. We do have an elite LT, but he is just 1 year removed from a very serious injury that could have lingering effects. Since running backs don't get paid like those other positions do, who on this team deserves more money than Jackson at the time being?

It will be interesting this season if Jackson is still with the team. His role will be reduced. If he is expect the Jackson whine to be heard. As far as comparing the two last season. Cooper did play 16 games I believe but it wasnt till the Tampa game that Cooper started getting targets - game 6 - Vick ignored him for the most part and stuck with Jackson or AVant or tight ends - Remember Vick rarely made it past the 1st or 2nd read in is progression.

Then enter Nick Foles , the first game when he came in vs NY it was all Jackson even though he played. I think Kelly looked more to get Coop involved the following game in Tampa and from there on out.

Will the assholes on this board please stop with the racist comments - The suggestion if one realizes the fact that Cooper if given the same targets over the course of the year might have finished close to Jacksons numbers

I believe Jackson and Cooper can compliment each other on the field with but facts are facts - with Mac back and Sproles added to this team I think Jacksons contribution will diminish thus I believe he is not worth being paid the highest salary on the team. I believe with the additions his numbers will be more like his numbers in 2011 and 2012 - numbers that should have never got him the contract he got but Fat Fuck was still here.

Oh im racist for simply pointing out the number of targets Cooper got vs Jackson, Considering Vick rarely targeted him in the 6 games he was qb.

That is all of a sudden racist

This is not about Cooper vs Jackson FFS

It is about the fact Jackson the highest paid player on the team and will likely see reduced targets next season given the fact that Foles actually goes through a progression making the reads and spreads the ball around.

Given this fact and and Jeremy being back along with Sproles do you really think Jackson will have the numbers he did last season? Do you really think he wont be sulking about the number of targets he is getting?

Do really think he will be worth the highest cap figure on the team if his numbers drop off to 2011/2012 like numbers -- I DON'T and don't think the teams management does.

It is simple finances this game has to deal with today. Can you can honestly say to me, you believe Djackson will put up the same numbers he did in 13 next season given the additions of Mac and Sproles to the team? If the answer is NO - then how the fuck can a team continue to pay him the most of any player on the team?

Stop making this an issue about race - IT ISNT IT IS AN ISSUE ABOUT FINANCES. Its what Jackson and his new agent made clear 2 weeks after the season was over. Cap is an issue this team is facing also.

What are you talking about, man? If his numbers drop? Who gives a fuck if he benchmarks his previous season's stats? You already admitted that the gameplan will likely be to spread the ball around. I predict that even spreading the ball to other players, #10 will still have stats reflecting a #1 WR on THIS TEAM. That should make him worth the money.

Odd you would agree with iowaigglefan and be the biggest Cooper supporter. That is curious. Or is that someone else's opinion?

Come on bro, be objective and just accept the truth.

The Eagles will have more weapons next year. They will CLEARLY take touches away from the most talented WR on the team. However, if you don't know that THE Riley Cooper will be even better despite the more weapons, you're just ignoring the facts.

More weapons for the D to focus on= bad for DeSean.
More weapons for the D to focus on= good for Cooper.

I'm not the one who fiendishly supports a player who makes public racist comments and agrees with a known racist on a public forum.
