Not really a valid comparison. The Bucs were a sinking ship when players started questioning Schiano. Players see this team as one on the rise - why risk bad blood with a respected coach to defend a guy who's clearly not going to be your teammate soon enough?

I'm not trying to say that DeSean was universally loved. I'm just saying that it seems like Kelly's edicts carry a lot of weight in that locker-room.

The people who we need to be listening to are Mike Vick and Avant. And if Evan Mathis gets traded, something tells me that guy will have some interesting things to say as well.

Perhaps not but I don't think Lurie would hamstring him if Kelly didn't think Jackson wasn't entirely necessary. What's the point in that?

I want to hear someone come forward and sincerely say "Desean Jackson was a great teammate."

I don't want to hear, "He helped our team," or things that are obvious.

He was probably the Boobie Miles of the team. He was blessed with incredible talent, maybe teammates resented the fact that they practiced and trained hard, but Desean wouldnt.
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

If we need to listen to Avant, he's said it. During his interview, he acknowledged that he had to moderate for Desean and the coaches. Players don't want that kind of headache, having to be the designated babysitter for a guy who is making much more than they are.

And the Bucs are the the perfect comparison. Bold college coach in his second year.

Obviously this is all speculation. nothing that I have seen thus far ties Jackson to a gang.
Could be. It seems weird that DeSean could take away from that talk that all is well and go so far (apparently) as to tell teammates he'll be back, then have this happen.

One story I saw said the Eagles didn't know about his gangster friends (or whatever they are) until asked to comment this week. So this could be the straw that broke the camel's back, not the primary cause.

              Here's on hypothetical:

--DeSean is talented and plays really well last season, but is sort of a locker room hassle: late to meetings, maybe a run-in or two with a coach. They're able to deal with it because Vick and Avant are there.
--Eagles quietly let it be known they're willing to move him, since they've re-signed Cooper and Maclin (who they expect to be healthy, as evidenced by reports they tried to get him to sign a multi-year deal).
--Reporters either hear about their willingness to trade him (either from Eagles or elsewhere) OR that first blog post hypothesizing about his future hit really close to home.
--The Eagles get calls about Jackson but no great offers, news of teams' interest makes the rounds, leading to lots of reports and speculation.
--Eagles sort of mishandle the whole thing, not denying they're willing to trade him, leads to more speculation.
--Eagles don't get what they think they need in trade offer, have some kind of chat with DeSean, and probably hope they can work a draft-day deal depending on how things shake out.
--Reporters pursing this gang thing call Eagles for comment. They have an "oh shit" moment and just don't want to deal with it anymore, so they cut him.

But that's just one of probably a dozen different possible scenarios.

The great soccer player Ronaldo (the Brazilian one) hated to train. One day one of his teammates at Real Madrid said to him, "Look at you! You are lazy and fat! Why don't you train?" Ronaldo went out that day, scored two goals, then after the game told his teammate, "I score goals. That's why."

I couldn't give a shit how his teammates felt about him. The Eagles are worse off and they know it.

I agree 100%. My managers hate me, but I'm the best at what I do in this part of the state so they tolerate my shit.

If Chip is trying to make a team where everyone believes and practices the same thing, and one person wasn't doing it, then I can't get too bent out of shape here.

I'd like to know more information about why this move was made.

Paolantonio reported it was mostly about work ethic and attitude.

There will be no info, we are becoming the Pats. Nobody says anything.

If that's the case, I'm willing to give Chip the benefit of the doubt to see if it works.

It has to be the case. Chip has a close relationship with Bill for years, Lurie has a man crush on Kraft. Add the hernandez situation, it leads to Djacc being cut. Nothing will be said by the coaches or the players, but I'm sure Lurie will have a press conference or make a statement like Kraft did.
