have to believe its a combination/ accumulation of variables( already mentioned multiple times on this board) that contributed to his being cut...like any other business decision.

I believe more information will become clear once the hysteria subsides what that consists of is anybody's guess and also agree with you racism is a stretch and I find the theory short sighted and irresponsible.

And even if it is 6 versus 12.5, it still saves 6.5 mil this year and, as you say, a lot more going forward.

*shrug* I dunno, I'm just going by that site. It should save about $6 million in cap space, so I guess that is something. It's just that we didn't particularly need that space, unless they have some more moves up their sleeves.

Let's be clear here ... I did not want Jackson cut.

But I see the difference between the business component of Cooper vs. Jackson.

And aside from whatever management/character problems may be in play here, they pretty clearly think they can make up for Jackson's football contribution with Maclin, Sproles and maybe a player to be named later.

In comparison with last year, Cooper isn't replacing anything but himself.

I agree with what youre saying from a fan perspective, but we're talking about three players making up for the production of one. That's insane when you consider the release of jaccson saved six million and got nothing in return.

(a select few) of the posters here continuously preach about him not being worth the money. Well, his value for this season is 6 million. Is he worth the six million they saved this year? I say yes.

The Eagles said they cut him because of his gang ties not the money.

Plus if you take the six million dead money plus the replacement cost, they've gained very little financially and are unlikely to get an equal talent.

If it really was money, they should have just said that instead of ruining his future value with the smear campaign.

I have no doubt you could find two unnamed sources in the Eagles locker room to slam anybody. Meaningless.

Where did the eagles say this or anything else as to why he was cut? Is there a new statement?

This is from the NJ.com article

Yet the Eagles' apparent decision to jettison Jackson likely had little to do with his performance on the field or a big-money contract that was slightly squeezing the team's salary cap.

Rather, sources close to Jackson and within the Eagles' organization say, it originally was Jackson's off-field behavior that concerned the front office. A bad attitude, an inconsistent work ethic, missed meetings and a lack of chemistry with head coach Chip Kelly were the original reasons for his fall from grace, sources told NJ.com.

And when the Eagles looked more deeply into why Jackson was missing meetings, they found that his friends were becoming a more powerful -- and negative -- influence in his life.

Then, suddenly, the Eagles had even more serious concerns when they were revealed by NJ.com -- Jackson's continued association with reputed Los Angeles street gang members who have been connected to two homicides since 2010.
                    Then add in this.

The Eagles' silence on the whole issue has been troublesome. There was an ESPN report that the team's lawyers advised against making public statements. It is believed there would be no need for lawyers unless the Eagles were being careful about opening themselves up to slander allegations.

They could easily say it was a financial decision. Saying it was a financial decision doesn't open you up for slander.

                      What?

They will get in return whatever they use the six million for.

That six is just the cap, BTW ... they save 10.5 million in cash.

So, in other words, speculation on NJ.com and ESPN?

So you're speculating because they've actually not come out and said anything official other than he was released. That's what I thought.

The Eagles have actually said nothing at this point and what you are claiming is through a third party report. The article also implies that he was on his way out before they revealed the so-called gang related ties.

You can play your little word games all you want.

Saying nothing makes it look like the gang issue was the reason. That's not speculation. That's what happening.

It would be very simple for them to say it was financial. There is no reason for them not to. Other than to ruin his value.

The guy they sign using the extra cash is more of his replacement; I would have hoped for that replacement AND something additional in return, even if it's just sliding up a few spots in the draft.

I didn't know it was 10 mil total saved, I thought it was a 12 million salary and they had 6 of dead money this year.

He's not playing word games ... he wants to see someone say something.

You're divining what not saying something means.

And I'm pretty sure that if he was doing what you're doing ... you'd call him on it if it didn't follow what you already have decided is going on.

That does not mean you're wrong ... but it doesn't mean he is either.
