It would be very simple for them to say it was financial. There is no reason for them not to. Other than to ruin his value.
No, that's your interpretation. You're playing the word games by saying the Eagles SAID something when they didn't.

My understanding is that they spread a 10 mil bonus over the 5 years of the contact so you take a cap hit of 2/year.

If you terminate with 3 left, it accelerates the cap hit to 6 (3 x 2) ... if it's 2 years left, the cap hit is 4 ... etc.

There are three years left on the contract and he's owed 10.5 in salary for 2014.

So they save 10.5 out of pocket and save 6.5 on the cap because it would have been a 12.5 hit if they kept him ... the 10.5 plus the 2 on the bonus for this year versus the 6 they owe on the cap from cutting him.

They can use the 6.5 cap saving any way they want ... and I guess they figure they can get production that matches or exceeds Jackson's from Maclin, Sproles and maybe another receiver (who as a rookie certainly won't take all the 6.5).

Whether that football decision is right is yet to be seen.

We already went over this ... the quote was them quoting Schefter.

And regardless of the cap/ dead money nonsense Jeff Lurie gets to keep 10.5 million more dollars in his pocket unless he decides to spend it elsewhere.

Well, that's two players out of 53. Just last week Kendricks defended Jackson. No more mention of that I suppose.

"I want him to stay," linebacker Mychal Kendricks told Around The League on Wednesday. "I want him to be on our team. Deep threat. One of the most elusive guys in the league. I'd rather play with him instead of against him."

Amid speculation that Jackson isn't a fit for the culture coach Chip Kelly is building, Kendricks called his teammate "misunderstood."

"Once you're tagged with being a certain type of way, it's kind of hard to get rid of," Kendricks said. "But I've known DeSean Jackson since he went to Cal and he's always been a good guy. I can't sit here and say anything bad about him ... He's very to himself and relax and chill. He does his job, he does it well."

And Schefter was quoting an Eagles source. That's how it works. Do you think he was lying?

I've spoken to reporters ... the shit they wrote after I spoke to them was not exactly what I told them.

I'm not saying Schefter is lying, but I'd rather hear it from the horse's mouth in the context of the entire statement.

I'm not saying you're wrong ... but I don't have a problem with Terp wanting more than some guy saying an unknown source told him something.

And you saying you have a quote is frankly misleading in this context.

Agreed from personal experience that this happens.

At this point the Eagles have said virtually nothing. Are they at fault for that? At some level yes, although I think it's reasonable that it's part of a legal stance as well.

I think Kelly wanted him out and when this broke it gave them the excuse they needed to justify it with a little less animosity.
