Can we agree this whole thing reeked of incompetence from the front office? At some point it was leaked that they would cut him, something they should have kept very close to the vest, and at that point the team lost us at least a mid round draft pick.

Cab you make that conclusion before determining who signs him and for how much?

What would they have lost if they waited till after the draft to cut him? Even if they used him to move up in the fifth round it's still more than they got.

Okay, let's say, "Lost us any shot at a mid round draft pick."

It is possible nobody wanted the salary under any circumstances. If they wanted to trade him they should have shopped him before teams blew their wad on other players.

I said in another thread that the gang article may have expedited things.

It made it public and focused attention on it.

I think the Eagles cutting him put the focus on it, stuff about his gang connections has been mostly ignored in the past. He is under a more intense microscope right now of course.

I agree, but it still does not change the fact that they had no reason to cut ties right now and that article doesn't say anything other than Desean is/was friends with someone who was not convicted of murder. It's not a damning article by any stretch. They gained nothing by doing this now. What did they have to lose hanging on to him through the draft?

Why blame only the front office

They can't control what everyone in media leaks or gets wind of. It's basically like a small wing of the government, this is what you guys should be treating it like. They are gonna feed you lip service and lies and do whatever they want no matter what...maybe there is something more serious going on, nobody knows but them until the next insider leak. The front office/coach isn't going to get in front of the media and answer tough questions, just like our president won't.

So if reid planted the story and now signs jackson to the chiefs did he do a good enough job "expiditing" things? Seriously dude, it DOESNT MATTER whether he was unsavory or that the Eagles didn't like his work ethic, the Eagles had fucking ADMITTED their job is to do what's right for the team. So how exactly does cutting and smearing pro bowlers help the team?

Fuck that. Howie Roseclown's job is to maximize value for his assets and he failed miserably. This was a terminable offense. Plain and simple. And the fact that they had the audacity to state that they didn't want to trade desean to another team if he was gonna cause that team problems proves the point. Cause that's TOTAL BULLSHIT fom a GM claiming to be focused on improving the philadelphia eagles.

Maybe they'll spin it that they were being nice and giving him the best chance to make the most money.

That spin doesn't fly, if they are more interested in being nice than getting value they should get out of professional football and go run a soup kitchen.

They are going to have to spin something

Because they look like chumps. Cutting him now goes against the "We are doing what's best for the organization". There is no way to spin that unless Jaccson has something serious on the horizon coming.

Not necessarily ... they say they are doing what's good for the team by using the money on other more pressing needs and also make themselves not look like cunts.
