Losing respect?

I think cutting Jackson was dumb, foolhardy, reckless, boneheaded, idiotic, moronic and a whole of other adjectives that mean STOOOO-PID!

However Dick Vermeil made a lot of changes in season two and not all were popular --and Kelly uses the same rah-rah approach to coaching as Vermeil.

Chip is losing a lot of respect from Igglephans and the Eagles Nation for maintaining his silence on the matter, even though you have to figure there was a very specific reason why he released Jackson. The question is when --or WILL -- he open up about it?

So while I think he was flat out WRONG, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt -- but just barely.

What is Chip losing respect for? Up until now everything he has done has been successful. He took FF 4 win disaster into a 10-win division champ. Everyone on offense had career years. They had a good draft for a change. Things are looking up for the first time in 5 years here. Give it a rest.

They cut the guy 48 hours ago and we expect a full report? Once he signs somewhere we will likely hear what happened. I agree the whole thing is concerning at many levels. Its hard to believe anything floated out there. If there are truly 9 teams that are vying for his services, why couldn't the FO manage to get a late-round pick? Why are the Chiefs and Jets with direct coaching ties to him not interested? Why are the Foreskins the only team to schedule a visit with him at this point?

You may be right about this, including the stuff about him being arrogant. But I think we have to break this into two parts. First, Kelly didn't want Desean on the team and perhaps that points to his level of arrogance. But this has nothing to do with the fact that the Eagles couldn't orchestrate any kind of trade for the player. That falls on Roseman. It's Roseman's job to gt rid of the players the coach doesn't want and part of that responsibility entails getting proper compensation for talented players who do not fit in to the coach'es plans. Roseman failed Kelly and the franchise in that regard. It's just that simple.

When Kelly laughed, joked and was refreshingly open at press conferences and media ops, it won him a lot of brownie points with a rabid fan base that years ago grew tired of "Time's yours," "That one's on me," and, "I have to do a better job of getting them ready."

The fact that Kelly has said squat about the real reason why Jackson was cut is too much like a return to the bad old days. Unless they're making it up it would be far better to call a press conference and say, "OK, here's why."

Roseman tried to trade him last year during the draft--I'm sure you could find plenty of the stories written that say this--and not one team would give them even a middle round draft pick for him when they lowered their price from a 2nd rounder. So this has been going on for 2 years at least.
