Here's where I take issue with the writer of that article. Like everyone else, I had childhood friends from the neighborhood. When I was a child they were the most important people to me. When - I - was - a - child!

I never became famous or anything but at age 18 I left for college and to this day have not seen some of them again. Most of them in fact. He'll all of them except once on a visit home saw one in a wawa.

Point is I stopped having any special relationship with all of them. I made new friends in college and most of them I've never seen again after graduation day. I'm Facebook friends with a couple of them but we're not close at all.

What the fuck is it with having to stay friends with kids you knew as a kid? People change and grow apart in a normal life I think.

Did you grow up in the hood Ref? When you do, loyalty is something that controls your life. If you didn't grow up in the hood, you have no knowledge.

I stopped reading when the guy said "The Eagles said they released DeSean Jackson because of gang ties..."

The Eagles said no such thing. In their 25 word statement, all they said was that after an offseason of reflection (paraphrasing) the Eagles were releasing him. And that is ALL they said. Hell, all you have to do is go through the posts on here saying, "The Eagles owe us an explanation....."

This is how rumors and mixed messages get sent. The media has said this is what help him get cut--but the Eagles haven't said anything.

Um did you not just read Ref's explanation as to what constitutes a "normal life?" He's an expert on other people's lives. Just thank him and move on with your day.

Now while I agree that at some point you have to recognize when someone is a bad influence on your life and cut them loose, when you grow up in the kind of environment that most inner city kids do, a lot of times those friends are all you have. They're there for you through thick and thin, and through just about every circumstance. When you grow up poor in the hood, you develop this "us against the world" mentality. Friends become brothers. That's just the way it is.

Assuming that Jackson is loyal to people who are less than reputable - what loyalty should the Eagles have to them?

If they feel that their asset/employee is being influenced in way that is detrimental to the team - what obligation do they have to Jackson's brothers?

That's not what I was saying. I'm speaking from what may be DESEAN'S point of view. The Eagles don't have to do anything for his friends.
