One thing to always keep in mind. Any player can get injured at any time.

They can suffer a minor injury, a major injury, a season ending injury or even a career ending injury.

In any case, when a player on the roster gets injured the team is paying $$ for nothing.

I think the DeSean saga makes a bit more sense when you look at it through this injury risk vs reward lens. Jackson wanted more money guaranteed as insurance against injury. The Eagles probably didn't want to continue to commit so much of their money to a guy who they had problems with and who has his ups and downs.

Also, Kelly apparently doesn't like Jackson. And HowLo would love to have a cheaper replacement with less risk of money being eaten up by an injured player.

So I suspect in the postmortem analysis of the season, Kelly and HowLo probably decided Jackson would go. Question was would they get anything for him and can they replace him?

We know the answer to the first question: They got NOTHING in return.

Second question: Remains to be answered depending the results of the next season.

The issue of the gang stories remains interesting. Was it leaked or was it not?
