  • When someone says they'll "pray on it"

Are they looking for God to give them an answer, or are they really just processing how they feel about it and allowing the right answer to come to them. Like if they are trying to decide between a minivan and a Ford pickup, and they say that they'll pray on it, does God help there or is it more that they are just trying to get enough silence in their life (in a meditative way) to see what they should really do?

Probably more of the latter, but I think most religious people feel like God's presence helped the process along even if he/she didn't provide direct guidance.
