  • Whitlock's article is dead on.

Never thought I'd ever say that.

Look it up. Worth the read.

It's pejorative. He uses the word "diminutive" twice at the beginning of the article to complain about Jackson's character.

Last time I checked, size doesn't go with character.

      Lazy article.

Yeah. Jackson = Iverson. That's excellent reporting!

Pretty simplistic and playing to stereotypes.

This is a perfect example of how the Eagles are fkkking over DJax. Everyone in Philly knows they cut him for salary issues and personality conflicts with Kelly. The national media is painting him as a gangster because of the timing after the nj.com article. And the Eagles won't come out and clear the air.

WTF is up with drawing comparisons between Iverson and Jackson?

Or the eagles are doing Jackson a favor by not speaking. I have no idea why they haven't said anything as of yet and neither do you.

I ever followed basketball but from what I heard wasn't over son known for not practicing? The stories coming out about Jackson could draw some parallels there.

Did you read the article? Whitlock doesn't paint him as a gangster and refutes the idea the Eagles cut him for that reason. He specifically says that the Eagles cut him because of his attitude and the fact that he's a headache to coaching staffs.

                        ---
There is no proof and virtually no reason to believe Kelly and the Eagles released Jackson because he is friends with Los Angeles Crips. I've reread a half-dozen times the original NJ.com story that sparked the controversial narrative and set the tone for coverage of Jackson's release.

As it relates to justifying the narrative, the story is thin at best. In its own words, it contradicts the engine driving the Eagles' decision. NJ.com wrote:
                        ---

                        ---
The Eagles could very easily want to keep Jackson away from younger players because of his lack of work ethic and lack of professionalism unrelated to his LOS ANGELES friends. The Eagles play in PHILADELPHIA. There is no professional football team in Los Angeles.

What is indisputable, based on reports of others and my own reporting, is that Jackson has been a major headache for every coaching staff since his days at Cal. He is selfish and unreliable. He has difficulty committing to a team concept. He is uninterested in practicing hard. He coasted through an entire season because he didn't want to risk injury in a contract year.

I'll give you a good potential for a possibility for a parallel there. But if that is the parallel Whitlock was trying to draw he should have been explicit about it. By being vague he left a lot of room for smear there to imply that Jackson has Iverson's other issues.

Iverson was a Philadelphia player of quality talent who was known to have a me-first attitude at times and conflicted with his coaches and eventually got shown the door.

Tortured. Harls' explanation was better. Not sure why you needed to explain it for him.
