What? Smith is the executive director of the union and paid nearly 5 million per year! Are you suggesting that the player's union is just a neutered little dog with no influence on the league?

It's huge. Including tarnishing the Eagles image to players around the league. Believe me, those 1800 players have to be taking notice. If Kelly falls on his ass this year, not many top players will be anxious to join the Eagles going forward. Just as they aren't enamored with going to the Bucs.

Don't underestimate how huge this thing is.

Exactly. They released him because of his behavior. The gang association stuff was brought out because of a little investigative reporting since that evidence was already made public by Jackson himself.

Smith comes up for re-election next year. He has to be seen doing something. You notice they are still investigating the alleged smear campaign against Josh Freeman at TB which has come up with nothing. I will admit that I will come here and eat crow if its proven beyond a doubt the Eagles smeared him. Which is more than I think a lot of you will do if its proven they havent.
