If this is all true...it's better that he's gone.

Here's the thing - and I think this is the issue most people have - if the Eagles had just stated anything to that effect in terms of it being the reason for letting him go, that would have been fine. If true, agree with it or not, that is a legitimate reason for any coach to cut a player. And, quite frankly, even as a big DJacc fan, I don't doubt that some of that is true. However, instead of relying on that, the Eagles remained silent and allowed the national discussion to be about Jackson's "gang ties." I think they owed him more than that and that's what sucks.Last edited by McCarthy12; 04-05-2014, 01:22 PM."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay

And if true, the team should have just owned up to it. Instead we're getting anonymous quotes. Some are likely from players and others from staff. Who knows? It doesn't take much insight to recognize that Jackson is immature. If his conduct was so detrimental to the team, he should have been suspended. He wasn't. My take on that is his conduct never really rose to the level of insubordination. Just whiney diva crap from a position where the league is full of divas. Kelly ought to get used to having an occasional diva on the team if he wants good WR's. So should the Eagles players. If they think Kelly's magical system will shine with just Riley Coopers on the field, they're delusional.Last edited by The Ref; 04-05-2014, 01:31 PM.

Or you keep this reason under raps until he sings a new deal so it does not affect his new deal. Gang ties and other things are rumor and speculation but insubordination directly form the club may affect his market. Maybe they did treat him right by staying silent while others made up information.

Eh, I think it's a tough call. If it is true that he was b*tching Kelly out in the locker room then that's a bit of a different story. That, to me, rises a little bit above diva to someone a coach has the right to dump. We don't really know what went on in the locker room, but if Kelly tried to work with him and nothing changed, then it is what it is. If Kelly allows him to constantly show him up in front of the team, then he looks like a p*ssy. I'm sure you've probably managed employees in your life. I do in my current position. Personalities are complicated and although I haven't had to deal with it, I'd imagine there are people who's behavior renders them, regardless of talent, undesirable, even by the most talented manager.
I'm sure DJacc will mature. I think, at the end of the day, he is a good person. But maybe, at this stage of his career, he was overboard. All that said, it doesn't excuse the bs gang story the team allowed to fester.Last edited by McCarthy12; 04-05-2014, 01:40 PM."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay

Except that it's not a lie. He has friends from his youth who are in a gang. He might still be friends with them. So what? I would advise you to take a step back and familiarize yourself with where he grew up and what his environment likely consisted of. Has he done anything illegal? If not, that's guilt by association and that's bullsh*t."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay

They don't have to say shit. You want to hold them accountable? Cancel your tickets. Just get the entire rest of the fan base to go along with you, and BOOM! Change.
I'm not singling you out here, dude, but the notion that the owners owe the fans or even their players explanations when they want to do something is crazy. That's the way the rules are written.-Slizz of Wangnutz

I was a huge fan of him on the field but I don't doubt for one minute he was a compleTe fucking dick like they're saying.
And, if he was as bad as they are saying now the eagles probably love seeing him twist in the wind and are saying nothing.
Kelce's tweet immediately after this broke was probably just the tip of the iceberg on how players felt.
Time to move on. We need a WR badly now opposite Maclin and cooper.

I don't care about an explanation, nor do I feel entitled to one, BUT if you allow the story that he is a gang member to be the driving perception as to why he was cut and it isn't true, thereby falsely damaging his reputation, not as a football player, but as a man, I think that is wrong. This is a unique situation and I draw a distinction between this and 99% of the football decisions made. It's not that I feel I am entitled to any explanation, it's that I think Jackson was entitled to more.Last edited by McCarthy12; 04-05-2014, 03:34 PM."Listen to McCarthy" - Art Vandelay
