  • Another Segal client who couldn't be traded

"We have had an open dialogue with Chris' agent, Joel Segal, over the last few weeks, and we appreciate the patience and professionalism they have shown throughout this process," Webster said in statement. "We made an effort to trade Chris but were unable to do so."

Sound familiar? Perhaps Segal leaked the gang stuff to force the Eagles to cut his client so he could make money off him. That actually makes more sense than the Eagles leaking it to shoot themselves in the foot regarding any trade chances.

It makes too much sense and might incite a new round of hysteria here...

People keep bringing this up as if they have discovered some brilliant hidden super secret but it's actually kind of retarded. An agent who screws over their clients will lose money and clients in the long run, they aren't gonna tear up a contract just to get paid sooner.

It doesn't sound familiar at all. For one, the Titans actually talked to Johnson and told him why they were cutting him. It was about money. And deserved. Johnson had a 2000 yard season in 2009 and hasn't come close to top production since. Very different narrative than leaking rumors to the media that Jackson was disruptive and insubordinate. Not to mention gang ties.

There is no way the Eagles come out of this looking good without talking about it.

although, I think there's a big difference between dropping this on a client (to get a new contract) and Segal pumping Djax to complain about his contract to get a new one. There's a mutual benefit to the latter.

Still, I don't think 20-something NFL players are exactly an efficient market.

                  Are you really that naive?

What you profess to be unrealistic happens quite often. Agents fuck over their clients all the time. Some are just better at keeping the secret.

Sure, there are some ethical ones out there, but there are a lot of real scumbags as well.
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

RUMORS that he was disruptive? How about Jason Avant's interview where he said he had to play go between plenty of times? How about Vick saying a trade or release of Jackson "might help him grow up"? Please. How about NONE of his teammates comung to his defense? How about the team's BEST offensive player saying "we'll miss him but he was cut for a reason" and then went on to say he trusts Kelly and the front office. What proof do you have that the team leaked the gang-association report? The guy that helped write the article and the sports editor both said they had nothing to do with it. Jackson, in his interview with Smith, when asked if he thought the team leaked that info said, "I would hope not, but when pushed further, said No". In fact if youve read all the stories linked to this you might even fund an article that says Jackson knew this article was coming out on Wednesday BEFORE his Friday release. And his reps told him not to make any statements before he was released.

Perhaps he convinced them they had bad (no guarantee) contracts and he could get them guaranteed dollars? Why would DeSean say that he thought his agent had a good off season plan? I just can't believe how many people don't see the real possibility he very well could have held out from camp, that would have been a real fiasco.

No one leaked the gang stuff about Desean, the information was already out in the open for public consumption. And it was posted by Desean.
