What are you talking about? Cap room can be carried forward to next year when they have several players eligible to re-negotiate. Just because it isn't spent this year does not mean Lurie pockets it. Looking at the cap in a 1 year timeframe is incredibly short sighted.

Ok. Lets pretend the 5 mill is some earth shattering savings the eagles push forward into 2015. That money is already spent on malcolm jenkins whose cap hit is well over 5 mill in 2015. Does anyone really believe this makes financial sense? If they were so desperate to free up 5 mill in cap space they wouldnt be structuring backloaded deals like the one they gave jenkins. I understand you think this money will impact the eagles next season but it won't because its already spent on less talented players.

Stop trying to say where and how that money has been spent.

        You can't.

The fact remains that it was financially attractive to the Eagles to dump a contract with a $12.75 million cap hit this year and an accelerated bonus subtraction of 6 mil, for a savings of 6.75 on the cap ... and avoiding 10 or so million dollar cap hits in the next two years.

The contract was structured like every contract in the NFL, with back end money that is hardly ever paid.

It appears that now teams are deciding to cut some top players who can still play, instead of restructuring.

Your speculation and spin doesn't change that.

And the spin is your tires spinning again.

EDITED TO ADD: I'm on record with wanting Jackson kept on the team. But I'm not going to ignore the fact that this move is being done by more than the Eagles. Whether it's greed or a way to spend the money on other players to try to win is yet to be seen.

They still have 5 million more now to push forward than they would have if they had kept Jaccson. If that means they can extend Foles/Boykin/Cox or sign free agents then yes of course it impacts the eagles next season.

Jenkins deal can easily be reworked to lower his cap value, you're just grabbing at straws now.

Nobody knows how they are spending besides who is in their FO, I do know they set themselves up for the future while the redskins just sunk their future into one player...yet again...It's a philosophy and a business, when a draft is strong in receivers and a guy has run his course who makes big bucks and has complained he wants even more, you cut ties and draft someone new for a lesser salary...That is what this team has done for years now since Lurie has been owner, he has consented to this numerous times. Plenty of speedy guys with good hands in this draft, let's wait and see who they replace him with, I am sure they have a plan and I am willing to let it play out after the season they just had.

I hope he just meant that the relationship between the Eagles and Jaccson had run its course, if he meant Jaccson is done then agreed it was a stupid comment.

I think when Desean's play drops off, it will be a relatively sharp drop off, as it often is with guys his size that rely on speed and quickness. But Washington will likely get at least a couple of really good years out of him.

Asking for more money when he already was making 10 mil a year...they have never taken kindly to that in the Lurie era. Good player but mejax was never a team player, was he? Maybe that is important to the new coach, i will take his side over yours thanks.
