They need a new direction. For 40 years the Flyers have been grinders trying to generate their own scoring chances... they dominate play for the most part... and then get counter punched from stupid mistakes or because they are tanked out.

They really only have two big bangers
on the offensive line: Hartnell and Simmonds. Hartnell was a nonfactor and Simmonds played well in spurts. Vinny was a waste of a signing. Out of position. Out of sorts in the playoffs. It will be interesting to see what happens if they try and do some things. Shayne Ghost would be a nice addition but at 165 you have to wonder how he'd hold up. I get it. Some years they're not effective at grinding it out, some years they don't have the personnel. The point is its the same fucking concept of balls-to-the-wall attack mode for 40 years. Same story. Over the years they usually dominate play and then, in typical fashion, get counter-punched for a score. While the NJ Devils were winning championships with the neutral zone trap, your knuckledragging team kept up the same shit and cried about the NHL's entertainment value. While teams picked up European players, your Neanderthal GM stayed strong and was the last team to have an all Canadian/US team.Comment
