Against Arizona in 2012, Lee set the Pac-12 Conference record for receiving yards in a game with 16 receptions for 345 yards and two touchdowns.[9] The following week, Lee had 251 return yards against Oregon, setting another conference record.[10] He finished the season with 118 catches for 1,721 yards and 14 touchdowns and was named the 2012 Pac-12 Conference offensive player of the year.[11] Lee won the 2012 Fred Biletnikoff Award as the top wide receiver in the nation, becoming the first Trojan to win the award.[12] He was also a unanimous All-American.[13][14]Last edited by Melchior; 05-08-2014, 12:07 PM."If I was racist in my opinion of QB's, I wouldn't have a dog named Donovan." - downundermike

Here's the thing about all these excuses for marqise lees poor performance in 2013: if you accept them now will you accept them after he drops a key pass in a mid november loss to the redskins that puts the eagles to 3-6?
Will his nagging knee issues be as acceptable when he misses two consecutive games during a critical playoff run?
Will his tendency to lose focus and drop catchable balls be ok with you when a missed td makes the difference between a first round bye and a home game against a division rival?
Will it be a non issue when he catches two passes for 21 yards in an early season home game just because nick foles was out with a concussion and he can't get into a rhythm with mark sanchez?
These are all excuses for his bad 2013 campaign and if those excuses are acceptable for a first round pick now you shouldnt complain when he provides similar results as a professional.
Not to mention he isn't really that good and amounts to an economy brand version of the guy they just cut.

Nice to see you have no response. The guy is a scrawny, immature, high-risk low-reward type, who runs lazy fucking routes and you have no response except to extoll stats from when he was piggy backed by one of the top qbs in college football. He could be a decent starter but his absolute ceiling is greg jennings. You don't waste a first round pick on a guy like that. Unless maybe you're a roseclown.
Lemme know when I should end class and let you go to recess, son.Last edited by J_Cuz31; 05-08-2014, 12:55 PM."You'll get nothing and like it!" Judge Smails

One out of eight catchable passes to marqise lee hits the ground. So if he gets eighty looks that's ten punts.
What in his game justifies such a miserable shortcoming?
Please try to educate me here. If I am misunderstanding something about this player let me know. And please stop talking about the excuses for why he was so bad last season. I know you think otherwise but explaining how bad the trojans were doesn't make him good.
Tell me what he does so well that its gonna make all those punts worth the trouble. Its a football board. For once talk football."You'll get nothing and like it!" Judge Smails

He's actually a fairly good route runner. He does run his slants a little loose, though. While his hands may be inconsistent, he attacks the ball in the air really well. He's also phenomenal at tracking the ball and running under it.
He has good change of direction ability and his acceleration once he turns up-field is top-notch.
I'm not even a huge fan of his, but your hate for him seems way out of line. He may end up sucking like a lot of drafted players, but you can't cherry pick what portion of his body of work that you want to address. And crediting his production to Matt Barkley is pretty disingenuous."If I was racist in my opinion of QB's, I wouldn't have a dog named Donovan." - downundermike

I don't think comparing his 2013 season to another prospects 2013 season is cherry picking. I understand 2013 was a difficult season for the trojans but lets be honest here the most difficult college season is far easier than the most turmoil free nfl campaign. I don't like one thing about how he handled the adversity and that is a very fair complaint. He had a strained knee and people talk about it like he tore an achilles.
That said I tend to agree that he is pretty adept at getting under long passes and he runs two routes, the post and the out pattern pretty well. He also plays well in space. But this is too limited a skill set for a first round guy imo. Not to mention he won't have nearly as many balls to run under, unabated, in the pros like he did in college. Especially if he is a 4.5 receiver at this stage of his career.
Outside of his immaturity the studder stepping on curls is horrendous and the catching with the body is unacceptable for a first round pick. He has digressed as a player and, like I said, its unreasonable to expect that all the red flags of 2013 will simply disappear once he leaves the ivory tower of USC for the fishbowl that is the nfl.
So if he is really no better a prospect than the six or seven receivers who will remain on the board when the eagles pick how is that an intelligent selection?"You'll get nothing and like it!" Judge Smails

I tend to agree with you on the immaturity angle. I don't think any of these receivers outside of Watkins is guaranteed to do anything special. There are no sure-things.
Personally, I like what I've seen of Cooks a lot more than Lee, especially for Chip's offense. But Lee has all of the tools to be a stud, just like a lot of these 1st round prospects. There are plenty of receivers who were immature and went on to have incredibly productive NFL careers.
You may very well be right, but your first post was fishing and your second post was all over the place with assumptions that you pulled out of thin air."If I was racist in my opinion of QB's, I wouldn't have a dog named Donovan." - downundermike
