  • HowLo really thought Smith was so valuable it wasn't worth the risk of waiting

    until the 2nd round pick?

I don't play poker but I wouldn't mind playing with HowLo. Howie folded.

HowLo went on WIP and said Jaiquan Jarrett was the best tackling safety to come out of college in years.

this is precisely what you'll hear today

that he was too valuable to pass up. Maybe in conjunction with a little birdie telling the iggs that team X was going to take him early in the 2nd.

I'm not sure anyone can fault the pick itself. He could be a good player and the Eagles did need an edge rushing OLB.

But the reality is, if the echo chamber of sports writing is to be believed, he could have been had in the 2nd or 3rd.

On the plus side, I want not part of Lee. Maybe in the late 2nd if he's around, but I'm not sold on the kid -very jack of all trades, master of none.

        At The Very Least

If this was their top guy on the board at 26, they should of at least realized they could have dropped back again and scored another pick. No one could have faulted them then.

What would it have taken to get Dion Jordan again? I'm not sure how legitimate the rumors were but I'd rather roll the dice with that guy.

but sometimes trades don't materialize. They got a real chance to score extra picks with the 22nd overall, but I'm not sure what they could have gotten at 26 that would have made the comfortable with getting Smith later

Who knows though...which seems to be a trend with this team.

Marcus Smith had as many sacks last season as Dion Jordan had over his entire career at Oregon 14.5 It looks like they drafted for need and their biggest need was a pass rusher. Dion Jordan is not and never will be a pass-rusher.

Pass rush was my biggest need for this team with speed receiver 1a, after the shitcanning of Jackson.

Said it before, I hope they (and nerd) are smarter than everyone else here.

But do you really have a lot of confidence that they are?

Why not take this pass-rusher in the second round? They only had this one reach on their big board?

Spuds was on eagles website telling fans the eagles were trying to trade out of the first round immediately after the Manziel trade. So they were trying to do that. I think they fell in love with Marcus smith and the strategy of trading out in the first round. My guess is that they overvalued him a little bit and also overestimated their skill in being able to ladder down to the early second round.

In essence, they were gonna do this all along (if Dix didnt fall to them) and they executed the plan with awkward but not horrible results.

How does a team struggle trading out the first round? I'm mean seriously, they have all year to put a plan in place if these things happen and they can't find a suitor? Unreal.
