The eagles coulda probably taken denard at 22 and still had smith at 54.

Fucking ridiculous what went down last night. Still stunned to be blunt.

I'm right there with ya, my man.................

F'ing Giants fans were riding me about it before. Laughing and saying how geigh our pick was. We're a f'ing laughingstock. Let's face it. We're no closer to winning a Super Bowl than we were 5 years ago. Lots of teams have leap-frogged us in talent. Whatever. I just don't give a sh*t anymore.

your lack of presence on the board was huge. I hold you responsible for this latest disappointment.

      but agree with your thoughts.

that's the real rub - Smith might be a very good player that they should have taken. Problem is they could have had two fine players instead of this.

Denard is the next Earl Thomas

I can't understand this off season, and frankly its put me in a bad mood. All of the credits for winning in 2013 have been used up.

Nobody ever won a Super Bowl in April or May. No one has any idea how these players will pan out over the next several years. Not even Clowney, Mack, or Watkins.

The best nfl player in this draft might not be known for another 5 years... and he might not have even been drafted yet.

I went out to a bar to watch it with a buddy of mine. Night got off track that I actually finished my night with a PBR draft.

Right there with you. I'd have taken Dennard at 22 and felt pretty good. Even if Smith didn't make it to 54. It just feels like the same "we're smarter than everybody else" syndrome continued. Am really hoping a decent WR gets to 54 today. I have no confidence they would be proactive and move up to get Lee or Latimer.

and unlike stupid blunders like Jon Harris who RR liked because of a clip film, Chip and co. scouted this kid quite thoroughly. They watched him for over a year, went to his pro day, brought him in for a personal interview. He has played both DE and OLB and has shown he has the tools and skills they are looking for in an OLB. Versatility seems important to Chip, especially on D, and a lot of the players on the board are more talented but in a more narrow range of skills. At 22, Smith has a lot of upside and time to develop, and I think he will contribute to the pass rush in year one.

As far as the question of him listed as a DE, that seems questionable. While he at times played DE, he also has a lot of on field time as an OLB in the Louisville D and has shown he can play the position.

They're taking a guy that they're going to have to wait on to develop.

This dude doesn't name his source, but it's pretty interesting...

Cosell was breaking down film of Smith a couple weeks back and he was running stride for stride with a TE up the seam and broke up the pass 20+ yards downfield. He can definitely play OLB.
