  • It all comes down to Nick Foles

Spent last night watching a few games from last season again. That Nick Foles guy is pretty good. Watching him play without being emotionally involved in the outcome is revealing. If Foles turns out to be as good as I think he might, it almost doesn't matter that they don't have an all pro wide receiver.

Not suggesting he'll be a Tom Brady, but Brady still delivers when throwing to Manny, Moe, and Jack. Foles just might develop into one of those QBs who makes his receivers better than they really are. And he has tight ends. Think Kelly is going to emphasize tight ends in the passing game in 2014... just like his idol, Belichick.

Foles matters more than any wide receiver they could draft.

How much better was Brady with Moss and Welker instead of Manny and Moe?

He was better with gronk and hernandez than moss and welker

I'm glad they are sticking with Foles. The guy is big enough to see over the line of scrimmage, he is accurate enough and he makes good decisions for the most part. I expect him to get better with more experience.

And he will run (for about 5 -10 yards) when the opportunity presents itself. That's part of making good decisions.

Chip is giving him some big targets, Celek, Ertz, Cooper, Mathews, and even Maclin.

Didn't they go 17-0 with Moss and Welker?

I fully expect Foles to become one of the best in the league if he isn't already. The only weakness I see from him is holding on to the ball too long and taking sacks, which is not the hardest thing to fix by any means

They also go deep into the playoffs almost every year without a stellar WR corps.

I am no longer a fan of the running QB. We've seen three of the best in NFL history in Philly over the decades and while enjoyable to watch, they don't seem to deliver in the clutch.

Prefer the smart, accurate, pocket passer to the athletic freak. Besides, as you point out, Foles isn't flat footed and non-athletic. I think Foles has an excellent chance to become just as good as Flacco, and maybe even Roethlisberger. And they both have rings.
