in no sport other than basketball

is there such intensity on the offensive and defensive side by the same players. In no sport other than basketball do adjustments occur offensively and defensively on the fly and with such frequency. we've actually argued this point before. I believe hoops is the ultimate team game. Football is a great team game, to be sure...but the players are specialized. Relatively speaking, basketball players have to do more.

You just made the case that basketball is a game of individuals. Football is the ultimate team game precisely because everyone has a specialty. It takes 11 moving parts, doing different jobs, acting as a collective one, to be successful. The very definition of team. Great football players cannot be successful if the rest of his team sucks.

I won't argue that basketball has great athletes. Duly noted. But american style football is the ultimate team game. Outside of curling.

football goes back to two-way players who can adjust style of play as frequently or as quickly.
